Don't Get Fooled by Online Surveys that Don't Pay

If you've spent any amount of time exploring the world of online surveys, you've probably seen those ads that promise big things: "Make six figures with online surveys!" "Earn big bucks overnight just for giving your opinion!" The first rule of taking online surveys is to avoid survey sites that advertise themselves with lines like these. Through legitimate online surveys, you can make modest amounts of money and rewards, but you're not going to become rich overnight. There are plenty of other much more believable get-rich-quick schemes out there.

Putting Online Surveys in Perspective

For truth in advertising purposes, it would be much more accurate for these sites to say, "Make a little extra money with online surveys!" or "Get a few bucks just for giving your opinion!" And there's nothing wrong with these promises. If you can earn a little extra money, why not go for it? Surveys happen to be one of the easiest, most convenient, and most enjoyable ways of doing this.

Let's think about this in a rational way. If you were the owner of a company that made, for example, digital watches, you would probably take great pride in the digital watches that your company made, but would you ever consider paying someone $100,000 just for telling you what they think about your company's watches? Doubtful. This is essentially what those scam online surveys are promising.

As the owner of a company, while you may not consider a person's one-time survey answers to be worth six figures, you would consider their opinion to be worth something. If you were to ask yourself, how would you value this opinion? $20? $10? More or less? This is more along the lines of what you can expect.

How Much Can You Make?

Now, you might be thinking, "Okay, but what if I take 30 or 40 surveys a day? Wouldn't this add up to a six figure salary?" Technically, you would be correct. But the fact is that there just aren't this many legitimate online surveys that pay real money. Most online surveys don't pay money at all. Instead, they give rewards or points toward purchases at certain online stores. You may be able to take lots of these in a given day, but in terms of paid surveys, you're probably not going to be so lucky.

At most, you should be able to find perhaps 2 or 3 paid surveys every day. This is if you're good at finding them, which many people are not. But when you think about it, even this is a good deal. If you have a different job, these few extra bucks can provide a great little bit of supplemental income.

And if you're willing to also participate in those non-cash surveys, you can make even more. Money is not the only thing in the world that is valuable. You can also use surveys to get rewards and products that can be exchanged on eBay and elsewhere for real money. So don't give up on your online survey idea. Just avoid the scams, and you can benefit greatly.
